The newest version of Sidekick has made its way onto the App Store!
The only feature added as a filter in search to filter by cards that are part of the new Pro Dice Circuit Prime rotation. You can read more about this new format at the Pro Dice Circuit website here. In the future, I will add an indication at the card and/or set level to indicate the inclusion in PDC Prime, but for now, a search will allow you to narrow your collection down to just those in the format. You may have to go to settings and force a database refresh to download the latest data that includes the flag to indicate that the card is PDC Prime or not. Please let me know if any cards are categorized improperly. Readded the swirl image for swirled dice that somehow got deleted from the most recent versions. The biggest reason for this update is that the service I was using to host the online portion of the database is being shut down in January, so I had to migrate the database to a new (more expensive :/) service. You must update to this version of the app by January 28th if you want a working app! Thanks, Aaron Greetings!
Version 1.3.5 of Sidekick was just approved for the App Store. Here is an overview of the changes.
Also, Ms. Marvel OP cards were added recently. Thanks, Aaron I've just submitted a new version to fix the issue when updating to 1.3.0.
It seems that there was a timing issue when updating the database, causing the upgrade to fail for some users. I believe I have tracked down the issue and fixed it. Hopefully Apple will review the change quickly so the fix is available for everyone shortly. If you don't want to wait for the update, uninstalling and reinstalling the app should fix things as is. There was also an issue where your collection numbers wouldn't appear correctly on the summary screen. I issued a server side fix that will remedy that. This update also addresses this on the client side. Sorry about this! -Aaron Greetings,
I have just submitted a new update to the App Store! Here are some highlights. - Added compatibility for characters with multiple energy types. - Added compatibility for sets with foil cards. - Added compatibility for different sets types, such as team packs. - Made the app universal, so you can download it on your iPad now. It doesn't look fantastic there, but at least it is available. - Minor text fixes. Yes, you read that right. I turned on iPad compatibility. There may be some kinks to work out with syncing between two devices, and the layout isn't great stretched the way it is, but I wanted to get this out on iPads so people can start using it. Please let me know immediately if you run into any issues with this. WizKids decided to make my life difficult by adding characters with multiple energy types and foils for every card in a set, so I had to update the database to handle it. This is the first time I've had to update the local database like this, so bear with me if there are any bugs. I added all of the possible combinations of energy types to the Search screen (including triples, just in case). Crossover characters will only appear when you select their specific energy type. They will not appear when searching for just one of the two types. A note on foils. I decided for sets that contain foil versions of most or all of their cards, I would not create the foil cards as separate entries in the database. Instead, each of those cards will only appear once, but it will have two sets of buttons to set how many you have of the standard and the foil versions. For the existing 4 foil cards that were given out at the WKO, I kept those as separate promo entries. Hopefully this doesn't cause too much confusion. When searching for cards in your collection, it will now check to see if you own any standard or foil cards. This goes the same for the wish list and trade list features. Please let me know if you have any feedback by contacting me using this sites contact form. Thanks so much for your support, Aaron Schuetter Golden Age of Superman cards have been added to DC Promos. Enjoy!
I am currently working on an update to better handle the upcoming characters with multiple energy types that will be coming with the Green Arrow/The Flash set this September. Hopefully I will get that finished soon so I can start adding spoilers from that set, but GenCon might slow me down a little bit. Added Justice Like Lightning OP cards to Marvel Promos.
That is all. A few new promos were just added to Sidekick.
- Aaron There have been a few small updates to Sidekick over the past 2 weeks. These have mostly revolved around me trying to figure out what was going on with some users not having all the data present after upgrading from versions prior to V1.2.0. I haven't seen any crashes on the App Analytics screen for this version so far. I'm taking that as a good sign.
The only front facing change to users is a check for missing data when attempting to load anything in the catalog. If missing data is detected, a message will pop up informing the user, with instructions on how to manually refresh the data. This is vastly preferred to the previous behavior of the app crashing. The method of refreshing the data manually is going to Tools -> User Settings -> Force Database Refresh. This will force the app to download all the set data again. Only do this if you see the above message. If you see any further issues, please don't hesitate to contact me through this site's contact page! Thanks, Aaron NOTE: If you collection is missing after update, go to User Settings and Log out and back in. If it is crashing on loading sets, reinstall the app. I am looking into this as quickly as I can.
Sidekick has been updated to version 1.2.0 in the App Store! Features of this update:
The way Sidekick stores its data locally ended up being a problem. I originally used the local datastore of the service I am using to host Sidekick's data. Apparently it wasn't too happy when there were over 1000 cards, which didn't happen until ASM, and it would only show the symptoms of the problem occasionally (and never in my testing :/ ). I've pulled this out and implemented the local datastore myself. This will finally fix the issue where sets are disappearing. A pleasant side effect of these changes is an app with much quicker load times. I've also tried to make the app a little more intelligent when it comes to checking for updates. It will now at least check for an internet connection instead of attempting to grab updates until it timed out. This should allow the app to start up more quickly in most cases. Please give the update a try and let me know if there are any issues, preferable using the feedback form on this site. The backend change was a big one, so there is always a chance there are some bugs in there. The joys of software development. Thanks everyone for your support! |
